There are (or at least were) some REALLY NICE AREAS in Oakland.

There are some really super expensive areas of Oakland.

A lot of the crime is concentrated in a few areas.

Agree. I kind of ended my posting early. People in those nice areas are living on borrowed time...at some point, the political benefit in protecting them will be overridden by the political benefit in allowing open-season on them. Very similar to the White farmers in South Africa, and Zimbabwe before that. OBVIOUSLY the rational thing to do there is to let them do their farming and feed the country (and more)...but eventually the political pressure gets to be too much for the ANC or whoever is in power, and then open-season. So it’s always best to be a step ahead of them. The smart ones moved out of South Africa as they saw what was coming, the not-so-smart ones stayed and hoped, and most are now trapped there.

Those areas are up in the hills. All it will take is another fire like the one in 1991 to devastate them. They won't have the services to respond like they did in 1991.

The homeless are good at starting fires...
