“To this day so many talk negatively of Pres Trump’s picks in his cabinet. Yet none seem to accept or acknowledge that no matter who he named, he had to get that person past McConnell and Schumer.”
Won’t that still be the case if he wins in 2024? Maybe not McConnell (depending on his health), but unfortunately his deep-state replacement.
I’m thinking, NO.
There is some rule that if he appoints someone as an interim, the term lasts for 6 months. At the end, the Senate will vote. If they say, NO, he can just re-appoint them. And they have all the same power and authority as if they were confirmed.
Anyone on here knows any different, feel free to correct me.
But I think that was something that came up with the acting AG, Whitaker(?), if I recall. He didn’t push for Whitaker or maybe something came out about him and I think that’s how he ended up with Barr.
And I think that Mnuchin and Ross, who actually did what Pres Trump wanted them to do, were folks that snuck through. Both Wall St folks and I think McConnell thought they were more globalist and would do what all the others did, stab Pres Trump in the back, and they didn’t.
