Naturalized dot headed citizens vote for Democrats in huge numbers:

"Indian Americans remain solidly with the Democratic Party. Recent anecdotal narratives notwithstanding, there is scant evidence that Democratic voters are defecting toward Trump and the Republican Party. Seventy-two percent of registered Indian American voters plan to vote for Biden and 22 percent intend to vote for Trump in the 2020 November election."

Trump was making inroads into the Indian community, especially through his personal alliance with Modi. This worked very well with the initial batches of Indian immigrants, who were much more small business - working class. All those Gujarati Patels for instance, that own the motel business.

The trouble in the US is a combination of circumstances and culture. Modi for instance is in Indian terms a Trumpian figure. His opponents are the educated class and parts of the Indian “deep state”. Indian immigrants to the US are, these days, mostly from this educated class. They see Trump as an American Modi.

Btw, Modi’s followers can be a problem, in India, by our lights anyway. Its those people who are cracking down on Christianity in India. My aunt, a nun, was just there and she has chapter and verse on all that. There is a downside to everything.

Indians are also, often to an absurd degree, impressed by credentials. They are natural followers of the university authorities. If professor X says that one should believe Y, then they do.
