Agreed. Many people feel that something isn’t right with voting and our electoral systems - but they are too lazy to devote too much though or investigation to what it all means - so they are easily sold on the “new shiny thing” which promises to be different.

I feel the same way about term limits. Yes, there are corrupt and seemingly permanent elected politicians. But all term-limits do is make them tourists in the government they are supposed to control. It just makes the unelected deep-state bureaucrats (think Fauci, Comey, etc..)_ who have been there for decades even more powerful.

The only real structural deficiency with our voting system is that there is a lack of verification. An accurate count of real voters is essential.

The other issue is ill-informed, intellectually lazy voters who go with what sounds good or looks good on the idiot box and never bother to learn what is really going on with a candidate.

You hit the nail squarely on the head. If you do get a really good leader in office they will just be passing through. The bureaucracy is forever. Most of the garbage in our lives is inflicted on us by the unelected government that the elected government has abdicated to. If there is to be term limits for elected officials then there must also be term limits for unelected officials. What would be wonderful is if the voters actually gave a [insert expletive of choice].
