The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, presented the crew of a tank with the call sign “Alyosha” for state awards, which repelled an attack by a Ukrainian armored group in the Zaporozhye direction in June of this year. This was announced on August 1 in the defense department.
“The Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu presented the crew of the Russian tank for showing courage and heroism in repelling an attack by an armored group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction in June 2023,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement….video.
The crew of the T-72B3 accomplished the feat back in June. Everything happened in front of the UAV operators, who had previously paid attention to the work of Ukrainian sappers...video
And the column really went. It consisted of an entire armored company of Ukraine on NATO equipment: a patrol of two tanks, followed by six American MaxxPro armored personnel carriers with personnel. The first to hear the roar of their engines were Russian operators of electronic warfare systems and a drone.…video
“I’m watching, let’s go. Two tanks, six armored vehicles … And we have one Alyosha, one Alyosha there …” – the voice of the UAV operator who filmed the incident sounds.
Despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, “Alyosha” rushed to meet the enemy column, immediately shooting the first two tanks.

A few minutes later, another Russian tank came to the aid of “Alyosha”, together they continued to hit the enemy column. As a result, Russian tankers destroyed eight armored vehicles and about 50 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A group is several corps each of which is several divisions. There’s hasn’t even been 20 divisions worth of M1s produced. So, yes, hyperbole is a correct adjective for the article. IOW the article you posted lacks credibility. A typically Russian trait.
Which is to be expected.
An “armored group” of undefined size — let the reader’s imagination run rampant — makes a bigger headline than “Infantry platoon accompanied by 2 tanks wiped out.”
“An ‘armored group’ of undefined size — let the reader’s imagination run rampant — makes a bigger headline than ‘Infantry platoon accompanied by 2 tanks wiped out.’”
Then, perhaps, “Group” should not have been capitalized in the headline, as it does connote the military organization, Group.
In any event, my point was tongue-in-cheek, as is apparent in my original comment.
“ and the world is witnessing the destruction of US and western wonder weapons- en masse. ”
Sorry Russian, we will still kick your butts.
Disgusting to see pro Russian propaganda posted.
“Overly literal much ? and, it was obviously translated.”
Then the translator should have known better. Carelessly worded headlines can get...interesting. The word Group, as capitalized, can only refer to the large military organization, a Group. The lowercase “group” usually denotes an informal, usually small composition; which, in the instant case, would have been more accurate.
“Look up priggery.”
Oh, I know what it means. But you anti-Ukraine, pro-Russia FReepers usually nitpick what those of us on the other side post; so turnabout is fair play. Or, are you one of the screechers who cry Foul! whenever someone has the temerity to oppose you?
I realized it, but it was a good ‘take off point’ for my comment. Thanks for the “launching pad.” :)
“The word Group, as capitalized, can only refer to the large military organization, “
Not in a headline.
The words Crew,Awarded,Destroying,Entire,Armour,One and Tank also capitalized and no one is confused.
Also “group” is not capitalized in article.
I understand that. And you forgot that “Nazi” was also capitalized. Interesting that you omitted that.
And you perhaps did not see my following post that said my comment was tongue-in-cheek.
Apparently you didn’t given the aloof look down tone of your original comment.
Also it is not interesting because Nazi is also a proper noun.
Nice try, kid.
If you want to get down to the basics, it is an adjective AND a noun, depending on how it is applied. Thus, it can be either capitalized or lower case, again depending on its application.
The term NAZI is an acronym for Nationalsozialist (National Socialist), which is short for the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterparte (the National Socialist German Workers’ Party), or NSDAP. In the German language, all nouns are capitalized.
But, I will give you an example of the word used as an adjective. We know from the above that NAZI refers to the NSDAP (i.e., the political party): Thus, Hans is a NAZI (Hans is a member of the NSDAP); likewise, the word COMMUNIST refers to a member of THAT political party (Ivan is a Communist); and Bob is a Democrat (meaning he is a member of THAT political party. BUT, it would also be proper to say that Hans is a nazi (meaning he believes in the principles of national socialism); and that Ivan is a communist (meaning he believes in the principles of communism); and that Bob is a democrat (meaning he adheres to principles of democracy): That does NOT mean that Hans is a member of the Nazi Party; or that Ivan is a member of the Communist Party; or that Bob is a member of the Democrat Party.
You said, “Also it is not interesting because Nazi is also a proper noun.”
It is a proper noun IF it is descriptive of its connection to the NSDAP (the PARTY, not the philosophy); it is NOT a proper noun if it is merely descriptive of the principles.
So, unless the headline of the thread was saying that the “armor group” in fact belonged to the NSDAP, the word NAZI is more an adjective than a noun.
ok, Kamala.
history lesson not relevant
Too funny! You have no rebuttal!
I showed you with facts and logic that you were jumping to a conclusion, and you are not adult enough to acknowledge it.
I enjoy critiquing people like you. It is pure entertainment.
Of course as a simpleton you are easily entertained.
Nice try, kid.
A silly refrain.
again.
Got anything intelligent ?
Not silly at all. In fact, very appropriate.
Ok then, how old are you? since you act like a child.
And
btw, that you infer meaning to my simple non inclusion of the word nazi/Nazi says a lot more about you than about me.
