Interesting. I think old school hits the nail.

Today’s political and social environment resembles nothing I can remember since Nixon. Unless the average republican/conservative/independent/libertarian/etc. can come to an understanding of the corrupt nature of politics today we will lose the republic.

All I can say is when the facts change in politics, we on the right better be prepared to adapt our approach or be assimilated.

We are always in peril of Conservatism being corrupted by populism, whether on “national security” grounds as in the immediate post-911 era, or on economic grounds, as in the post Obama era, or now since 2020 on legitimate concerns regarding China’s CCP or the deep state, or the collusuon of the deep state, big tech and big media. In rgead to the later we are in peril of “solutions” being either too dependent on executive action - which will merely strengthen the executive, or in Congress creating more regulatory over reach, and all to please populist trends.

We need a Conservative congress that will not had the executive more powers, but will in fact greatly reduce the powers and over reach of the administrative state. Somehow I do not see Trump really joining us in that, with him focused too much on just who wuns the administrative state, as if that alone will correct things, when it will only provide temporary relief.
