The US Embassy in the Dominican Republic is in the news for a recent press release where it alerts that those seeking fiancee visas need to present what they call “appropriate proof of relationship.”
The Embassy highlights: “Please DO NOT SUBMIT intimate photographs (such as photos of the couple in bed together, not fully clothed, or engaged in intimate displays of affection. Such “evidence” is neither appropriate nor convincing to establish proof of a relationship, and may even be detrimental to your credibility.”
Local press had a field day. The note left open to imagination and speculation what people were sending to the Embassy.
The US Embassy indicates that adequate evidence of marital relationship or engagement for spousal petitions are photos of the wedding, of the couple’s life together throughout the duration of the relationship, messages or call logs, past and recent social media posts, contracts or invoices for major purchases in both persons’ names, remittance records or receipts, statements of joint bank accounts over time, birth certificates of children had together, among others.
So which is worse, people who work for the State Dept or immigrants from the DR?
LOL! Perfect.
But if the couple is gay and the submitted picture is two guys in bed together (or worse), “Fabulous! Here’s your visa!”
immigrants from the DR probably spend less time viewing computer porn.
...or just walk in with the millions invading currently.
Half of the Dominicans are already in the USA. Would not be surprised if Pennsylvania were hosting a million of them.
FYI: many, many of them claim to be Puerto Rican, in the hopes that they won’t be deported.
This reminds me of an audit the local university conducted a few years ago of employees’ spouse and partner health insurance enrollments. The audit revealed that about 15% of the claimed relationships were fraudulent.
