TAMPA — Brooke High was not ready to face her family. Sitting on the edge of her bed, hair dripping wet, the 19-year-old listened to her twin daughters cry in their high chairs on the other side of the door. One hurled what sounded like a plate. Then a bottle.
Her husband, Billy High, also 19, was supposed to be watching them. But Brooke could hear one of his TV shows playing on his phone.
She waited a few minutes, reminding herself of everything their marriage counselor had told her. Treat your partner as you would want to be treated. Soften your tone. Don’t yell.
She heard Billy finally take the girls out of their chairs. Then came a loud splash.

Imagine being that child growing up, newspaper notoriety and all.
They’re kind of destructive for “clumps of cells.”
premarital sex made them parents.
the abortion ban saved the child’s life.
Abortion exacerbated the problem it was supposedly to cure.
Liberals have always been a little dim about cause and effect.
It was not an abortion ban that made them parents. What made them parents is they self-identified as sexually mature people.
maybe they should have kept their pants on.....
NO! SCREWING each other as teenagers made them teen parents! It’s about time that they owned up to the consequences of their decision
Gee doing what they did isn’t the cause of their being parents anti abortion laws are
That makes no sense
Reads like fiction.
I guess adoption wasn’t allowed.
Well, technically an abortion ban doesn’t make parents. Biologically, engaging in unprotected sexual activity may result in becoming parents.
Don’t mean to be pedantic . . .
twins?
two fer one...
Maybe we should change direction. I haven’t seen any adoption alternatives step up whether it’s organizations or the GOP leadership. They may be out there but our silence is deafening. Too(not enough) defensive. We’re just not ready for prime time.
You’re serious, right?
A generation or so ago, 19-year olds often got married in churches and started off married life with the blessings of their families, their communities, and their God.
Now, under Obama care, they are too immature to take care of their own insurance until age 26 or 27 (it’s such an inane lib indea that I forget exactly),
I glanced through the article. Sounds like a typical young couple with kids having typical young couple with kids problems. I do give the husband credit for joining the service. At least now the family has a reliable source of income.
It’s the WaPo title that really disturbs me. It sure looks like the author would prefer that the twin girls did not exist.
They became parents due to sexual activity, NOT because of a ban on abortion.
Heaven forbid! In the libtard mind, it is better to kill your young than let somebody else raise them. I’ve actually heard this argument except that they didn’t use the word ‘kill’.
