Former President Donald Trump's team is launching a legal defense fund aimed at helping to handle the onslaught of legal bills the former president and his allies face as the investigations into him mount, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.
On Sunday, ABC News reported that a super PAC supporting Trump spent more than $40 million on legal costs in the first half of 2023 to defend Trump, his advisers and others, sources familiar with a filing detailing the costs told ABC.
The filing from the Save America PAC is expected to be released on Monday.
The legal defense fund will be called the Patriot Legal Defense Fund Inc., the sources said. It is expected to be led by Michael Glassner, who has previously served in multiple senior roles on Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
Trump and his allies have consistently pushed supporters to donate to Save America, often using false claims about the 2020 election and soliciting donations to rebuke the multiple investigations into the former president, his business dealings and his actions on Jan. 6.
The Save America super PAC has, in the past, reported taking in tens of millions of dollars and has helped cover legal bills for either Trump or his allies.

Nosiree!!
Cross their hearts, and hope to die!
This here is a one-time thing!
Would it be legal for non-Americans to donate to this ?
Hopefully Trump will win them all. He has obviously been targeted with some of the prosecutions, when compared to others. But just because his DOJ didn’t prosecute people like Hillary, as he said he would, doesn’t mean this one won’t.
i’ve said it before, but i’ll say it again:
Massive fascist lawfare attacks against Trump by the leftist fascist Deep State Democrats are the main weapons they’re using against Trump because they are unable to politically justify to the voting public that their total warfare against our way of life is what the voting public wants ...
NONE of these lawfare attacks would have been levied if Trump wasn’t the GOP front runner and wasn’t also such a major threat to the Deep State, both in terms of their agenda as well as a legal reckoning likely to put many of the Deep Staters in prison ...
It is therefore unquestionably legitimate that those attacks be countered with campaign funds ... period ...
No doubt all of rthe anti-MAGA RINOs and pro-leftist-fascists would be perfectly delighted if Trump had to spend only his personal funds to fend off the illegal fascist political lawfare attacks that have resulted solely from his powerful oppositional leadership against the the Deep State fascists ...
Great question, and I would think they probably could. Another great reason to separate the two, if true.
Have you seen the list of people they are going after in addition to Trump?

This country is beginning to make the USSR look like a party.
I just think a billionaire should pay their own legal costs. Basically having the working class pay the bill seems unseemly. I’m sure most disagree. I know it already. Can’t have trump spend money if his own.
Not all of those 84 names are being charged, are they? It thought it was just the ones in Michigan, where the laws are so strict. Seems excessive, either way, but maybe Trump will use this fund to help defend them. If I understand it is for more than just him, or at least hopefully so.
All the "prosecutions" are targeted.
Note the smell of bananas:
Neither Trump nor any of the other Republican candidates can get enough votes in 2024 to overcome the Democrat ballots.
If people want to donate to his campaign, they should be allowed. And if they want to donate to his legal fund they should be allowed. The important part is there should be no confusion now, and it will be interesting to see how they compare.
Clearly you have no idea the cost of legal bills for, what 5, 6 big legal cases across the country. That would bankrupt in billionaire in short order which is what the left wants.
LOL!
"The laws are so strict."
Or they have a case of demonic possession in the top law officer in Michigan.
This is the same one who forced a dam operator to maintain maximum water levels during the spring crest "to save the wittle mussels", causing the dams to blow out, massive flooding downstream - and the majority of the mussels ended up dead.
OF COURSE, the possessed one blamed the dam operator...
The only reason this is happening, is because Trump is running again, and looks to be likely to win the nomination, and competitive in the election.
If he was just at Mar a Lago and playing golf, none of this would be happening.
So these are expenses which are the result of their political vendetta against him, and everyone who supports him.
i’m happy to donate to the legal defence fund, even though I am not a US citizen.
Globohomo is after every normal person in the world, and we need to support regardless of borders.
Could be. But according to the audio I heard, which sounded like Trump waving a classified battle plan around a room at his golf club, there could be some problems there.
Neither Trump nor any of the other Republican candidates can get enough votes in 2024 to overcome the Democrat ballots.
Could be as well. I know of basically nothing that has been done in the battleground states we lost in 2020, and we lost the big elections in those states in 2022 as well.
Why were people outraged when the Clinton’s had their legal defense fund? Isn’t it a it hypocritical?
Could be both, could it not? I’ve just heard several actual lawyers say the laws are more strict in Michigan, and so there may only be charges there. I still don’t think all 84 of those people in that article will be charged, do you? That was my question.
I don't waste my time listening to most Media.
Remember - the Media dogs barking about this are the same dogs that aren't barking about Hunter Biden's tax felonies slipping past the statute of limitations...
I agree, but Trump is a BIG supporter of gay rights, in case you didn’t know.
