You plug in your mandated electric car at home to charge up for work tomorrow. The power company disconnects the charger during the night and the car never charges up.
You get in the car and it does not have enough ‘range’ to get to work. You call the boss and explain and he says get to work or lose your job....
Imagine how that played out in california’s wildfires, when the electrical grid was shut off to reduce new fires; the enlightened californians got to watch their homes AND electric cars burn (because they couldn’t charge them).
I would never go further than a hybrid, and even that would be years away.
