Anyway, the number of reported fires was so huge that the cars had to be recalled. One Fiero exploded out of every 508 cars sold. However, the Director of GM explained in his recall notification letter to NHTSA that improper owner maintenance and service procedures were the only causes of engine fires and there wasn’t any possible design flaw on their part (of course).

The 1989 model year Fiero GT was one very bad-ass sports coupe. The brand damage had been done though and they weren’t going to save it, despite the 89 being a flawless vehicle. If you can get your hands on that last year production run, you’ve got something special.

We went out to dinner last night on a company dime. The valet parking refused any EV. They were using an indoor parking garage which has banned EV parking.
