re. '... hit something like 28 consecutive 100 plus days.'

It was a bit worse than that. In 1980 Dallas hit 100 on 42 consecutive days, and had 69 days where the temp exceeded 100. It was a miserable summer here.

Did not want to overstate my recollection. I sure didn’t.

I was so busy back then I couldn’t afford to pay attention. I spent most of that year on Grand Mesa on a big project.

Texas heat wave of `80.

1980 by the numbers

113 Highest official temperature ever recorded in Dallas (June 26-27)
29 Most tied or broken records for daily high temperatures
69 Most 100-degree days in a single year
42 Most consecutive 100-degree days
92 Highest average temperature for a single month (July)
105 Highest average maximum temperature for a single month (July)
31 Most 100-degree days in a single month (July)

SOURCE: National Weather Service

.

There was a period right in the middle of that where the temp never got below 100 (day or overnight) but I can’t find that stat anywhere. It was about 12 days.

.

I wonder where we were, global warming, global cooling, climate changing, climate static, in 1980?

I was here in Dallas right in the middle of it and I can tell you exactly what it was.

HOT.
