reflects on the values of the person using it in this context.

Look chief, just because I have a brain doesn't mean I'm not very conservative.

The article was somewhat typical of a lot of web writings. Some hyper-ventilating with no details.

For instance, the title says True the Vote people went to jail. Which people, and for what? Or are they only talking about D'Souza?

True the Vote was asked to produce evidence it said it had. They didn't. Then there was legal action, and True the Vote said any claim of them not producing evidence was inaccurate? I'd like a lot more details, but I have a business to run and don't have time to watch 30 minute youtube videos with 30 seconds of information in them.

Please don’t get angry-I was not saying you are not conservative, and I genuinely apologize if it came across to you that way.

I made the accurate observation that if you call that article a “screed”, it is going to call your viewpoints into question by people who might be paying closer attention to this than you are and know full well this government initiated persecution is simply a milepost to full tyranny. (Granted, you may not care what others here think of you, but it is best to be fully informed of the matter before stating that they didn’t provide any evidence.

If you say you don’t agree with the findings of True The Vote, that is one thing. A “screed” however is an unwarranted, tiresome, and repetitious writing. There are a lot of people who will see the word “screed” and draw inaccurate conclusions about where you stand on this.

From your response, I conclude you never saw the documentary or read the book, and haven’t investigated it much, because it takes time that you don’t have.

Believe me, I get that, especially for someone in your position who might not have the luxuries I do, having to run a business which governments at all levels are generally hostile to right now.

It is one of the hardest things we as conservatives have to deal with now, that we have to vet information ourselves (which often means having to watch or read things we have little time to actually do) and use our intellect to draw our own conclusions. Unlike Leftists who either swallow the pronouncements of the Left wholesale from sources we know are not only completely untrustworthy, but who are actively hostile to conservatism or anyone who disagrees with the Leftist worldview.

So it does take work and time. At the very least we have to assume the burden of educating ourselves and doing the analysis as well. Personally, I have gotten sick of just bellyaching about all this, so I have taken the steps over the last year or two of joining my Republican Town Committee, and also getting selected to my town’s Board of Registrars. If you knew how much I despise politics and the kinds of people who practice it in my very blue state, you might get an idea of what a sacrifice it is for me to do it.

When you say “...True the Vote was asked to produce evidence it said it had. They didn’t...” your statement is incorrect. They provided a bulk of evidence, but it was not even considered in any court setting, which is no surprise to anyone who has been viewing the landscape since November of 2020.

You may disagree with True The Vote’s findings and the evidence they gleaned from their investigation, but that is not what this article is about. This article is all about the weaponization of the government as a Leftist/Deep State entity, and the way it has been brought to bear against True The Vote.

In that light, to answer your question, Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips (both of True The Vote) were both jailed for a week until their contempt of court conviction was overturned by an appeals court. They had been jailed for refusing to name a source, supposedly an FBI Confidential Informant, and it was overturned so they were freed. They were going to be, absent a reversal, in jail for an unlimited amount of time until they turned over their source.

If you have any questions on this specifically, I would be glad to help you out. (for example, the genesis of that animated GIF file I posted which encapsulates their evidence. I have looked at this and the underlying technology and methods in some detail, so that is why I say that graphic encapsulates their message)

That is why I come to Free Republic, and continue to pay to be a member. Because I cannot look at all the issues on my own. I lean heavily on this forum to help crowdsource this firehose of information and at least throw out the things that I don’t have the time or need to process.
