I never understood why they dont capture the methane and sell it? You can run almost anything that burns gasoline, on methane.

They do. It is called natural gas. And yes, it can be compressed and used. It does not have the same energy level as propane (processed NG) but will do a lot of things.
Ohh, for the old days. When pumper’s got away with burning casing head i.e. drip gas. I’m old enough to tell you lots of stories back in the day when government was much smaller and there were sill sane people making decisions.
