Sergei Shoigu hails North Korea as ‘most powerful military in the world’ as he pledges closer ties to nuclear regime
Russia’s defence minister has pledged to boost military ties with North Korea after meeting Kim Jong-un on a rare high-level visit to the reclusive nuclear-armed regime....

I heard Japan wants to join NATO. Expect some consequences of that.
Actually, it is quite the reverse. A very long history of unprovoked North Korean missile threats toward Japan into the Sea of Japan and over its airspace, and kidnapping its nationals and never returning them, cyber hacking of major Tokyo firms, supporting elicit amphetamine trafficking in Japan to destroy youth, may well end in the consequences FOR NORTH KOREA, with Tokyo aligning with NATO, first with a representative office of NATO.
Japan , sadly , is still a USA lackey .
I am constantly hearing that exact thing in Izvestya, Kommersant and other Russian media outlets, RT, etc.
.
That 6 years ago, it was Donald J. Trump wooing the North Koreans, which stopped their nuc testing and missile-lobbing at Japan
You think the Norks now are talking to our SecDef?
Isn’t it strange that this time four years ago MAGA 45 had everything under control except his(OUR) domestic enemies. and $2.5 gas and securing the border. Thanks idiot white women and soy boys.!
Funny you use the term “unprovoked” and “ NATO office in Tokyo” in the same sentence.
Whatever do you think would “ provoke” North Koreans into an active defense agreement with both large nuc powers that lie on their border?
For all you Russophiles out there. Russians just acting like Russians.
Death to ameriKKKa, Great Leader Kim will bring the world to paradise, right comrade?
OMG - Trump also visited North Korea!
Trump is literally Shoigu!

Even if that were true, as Americans don’t we want influence and friends and allies?
It only suspended their missile launches for 11 months but then the talks collapsed in Hanoi and further his proposal to build them golf courses… Let alone say nothing about Christians in concentration camps there… Was rejected in Stockholm in May 2019 and then the NK missile launches resumed in earnest, with embarrassed silence out of DC over the failure to get anything from Kim due to this unparalleled appeasement… But you left that part off, of course
And received a wonderful photo op out of it. Not much more in verifiable objective substance. I for one would love to hear the quantifiable deliverables he gained out of it for ROK, Japan and USA...even if in short bullet points.
Evidently you prefer the Biden approach
Shows of military force threatening the paranoic Norks
Tough talk threatening to “ end their regime”
Stirring up NATO to enter the Pacific by including Japan in our global security net
More military exercises with ROK, with acft carriers and strategic bombers
Ballistic missile sub in Westpac for the first time in 40 years
Docking US nuc subs in ROK for “joint nuc deterrence”
Beat the norks bellicosity down with US bellicosity…tried and true approach since 1953
And now, here we are
Ya know, Biden doing all the things that have now led to the Russian MinDef being invited to North Korea as a show of security cooperation.
Not necessarily.
You’ll find me critical of both Dem and GOP administrations and their handling of North Korea. Particularly in my book the worst were Clinton, Obama, Bush 2nd term post midterms and Trump post-2018. Particularly Trump’s was the most fruitless and greatest in terms of theatrics and PR photo ops (meaningless) not to mention coopted into silence over Christian persecution there. For him out of his own mouth, it’s about “friendship”. Ronald Reagan would be speechless.
One thing is I would not hold back any criticism of Trump were the exact same thing done, just change name from Trump to Obama, Biden etc and eviscerate them for doing the same things. I’m not a hypocrite in that regard. My posts since 1998 would reflect that.
I live in Japan and would like to see Japan and China have much more friendly relations . After all , they are neighbors . American hegemony is inexorably coming to an end .

Hear hear !!!

I would prefer that Japan stay aligned with the non-Communist world and be our ally rather than move into the Russian, Red China, North Korean, and Iran community.
FR is truly a different place than it used to be.
