Well it was the combined Soviet-German invasion of Poland, but yes, that was the point of no return, since it forced Britain into the war, as they were allied with Poland, and once Britain was in the war, then France was dragged in as well.

It had nothing to do with bringing the U.K. into the war. (And by the way, no shots were fired with the British for a long time, and even then the Germans started it.)

Hitler was obsessed with Russia. There is no way he was starting a war on Germany's Western front without the Russian flank protected.
