I have one charge card that I carry. I don’t call it a credit card because I don’t carry a balance and therefore don’t pay interest. Thus, I am used to “digital currency”. It is convenient, to a point. I carry a few bills, but rarely need them these days. Sometimes though, you need cash. Why does any entity have an interest in being informed of every dollar I spend? It doesn’t, that’s why.

”…It doesn’t, that’s why…” is the very root of the correct answer. Another relevant question might be: Why does the government want to suppress the ability of citizens to engage in private money transactions?
