Hmm mm, how do they maintain a civil society in your county?
“Backing the blue” is counter intuitive when you live in a police state.
You seriously think the police can be credited with maintaining what little we have of a “civil society” in this country? They can not.
A moral populace and shared values underpin a civil society. Not a police state. While law enforcement is ineffectual (at best) in stopping *real* crime in our cities, that doesn’t negate the fact that we still live in a police state. One does not exclude the other.
To slightly paraphrase a quote by H. G. Wells:
...and it comes across my mind that they are but the ghosts of the past, haunting the streets that I have seen silent and wretched, going to and fro, phantasms in a dead city, the mockery of life civil society in a galvanized body.
