Jack Posobiec: ‘Yes,’ DeSantis Is in Jeopardy of Losing His 2028 Frontrunner Status
Breitbart ^ | 21 Jul 2023 | HANNAH BLEAU

Posted on 07/21/2023 7:21:50 PM PDT by Kazan

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is in jeopardy of losing his 2028 frontrunner status, senior editor of Human Events Jack Posobiec told Breitbart News during an exclusive interview at the Turning Point Action Conference in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Breitbart News asked Posobiec about DeSantis, whom many viewed as the heir apparent for 2028, and the prospect that his current presidential bid could negatively affect his future political endeavors — a point former President Donald Trump has made on social media, asserting that DeSantis is “hurting himself very badly for 2028.”

###

“I can’t think of anything he’s done that I specifically disagree with. But when it comes to my political analysis hat, and putting that on and understanding the way movements ebb and flow, I think the Republican electorate very much wants to see another Trump run,” he added, mentioning again that it does not seem like the DeSantis campaign has done its homework on what works in other parts of the country.

“This is why you’re seeing these margins that are now being run up in places like New Hampshire, which functions like — almost like the Rust Belt, the Granite State up there, in places like even now, Florida, where he’s down 20 points in certain polls. That was the FAU poll,” he noted.

##

“So for 2028, yes, I think at this point, he [DeSantis] is in jeopardy of losing that frontrunner status. And on his current trajectory, depending on if he’s able to pivot, depending on if he’s able to stem the bleeding of cash and staff that he’s doing right now, you could end up like Ted Cruz, you know, or you could end up like Scott Walker, who is, you know, basically a cable news commentator at this point,” he added.

Not hardly.

Possibly.....his would’ve been first.

They can’t stop. It’s gross how they bash a true conservative. He’s nice enough to visit the other guy in jail.

I think it is a little to early for that. A lot can happen between now and then.

It’s too early to say that DeSantis is out for 2028, but he will have to start to show some understanding of the MAGA voters, because no one can win the Republican nomination without the MAGA vote.

Yes, the bashing of Trump has absolutely gotten out of control. Trump might have been a better President than Reagan.

We all know why DeSantis is running and that the Republican establishment put him to it. He's digging his own political grave.

I don’t care that DeSantis runs and even has to wait like trump in 2000. But I refuse to believe that trump is owed this nomination and anyone who runs is a traitor. That’s ridiculous. DeSantis can always run for senate when the elderly Rick Scott retires.

it is disgusting gross-the primary has been over for awhile-

and yet in the minds of non-MAGA it is still ongoing.

I agree. Trump was pretty nasty to DeSantis for months. I guess anything to get the nomination

But I refuse to believe water is wet and somehow this an ongoing battle.

The fanaticism is so grossly disgusting yet completely expected.

Not one vote happened yet. Lots of time and major events yet to come. Everything could turn on a dime. The next 12 months will be historic.

“ he will have to start to show some understanding of the MAGA voters”

Apparently he’s not the brightest 💡 in the pack and must be either completely naive or part of the problem

Trump IS owed this nomination after having the Presidency stolen from him in a blatant coup d’etat.

Rick Scott may turn 71 this year, though he’s about the average age for many of those Senators. He’s also not even served a full single term yet (just 4 1/2 years in DC). I don’t expect him to contemplate retirement until at least 2031 when he has served two terms, and if his health holds out, 2037 (by which time he’ll be 84). DeSantis isn’t likely to wait that long.

Marco Rubio, conversely, should be retired in 2028, but he’ll only be a young 57 after serving 18 years in the Senate. He could conceivably serve until 2059, by which time he’ll be 87. He still wouldn’t be as old as Chuck Grassley is now (90 in Sept), and Grassley has been in office since first elected in 1958 (his grandson is the IA House Speaker, whom many expect to be appointed to his grandfather’s seat if he dies or retires).

DeSantis remains hemmed in trying to go to the Senate, otherwise. I think President Trump should offer him a Cabinet slot, but he might prefer to serve the remaining 2 years of his Governorship. My personal opinion as to a VP option (problematic since he and Trump are from the same state) is that Gen. Flynn should serve in that capacity. We need a full take-no-prisoners ticket at this point.

I think general Flynn is a good guy that got a bum rap. But could he bring a state along with him?

Who would you say is the front runner for 2028 if Trump is out? Who is better than DeSantis?

Paul is the only one I can think of.
