A lot of the stuff on DeSantis as far as the campaign shenanigans raises concerns, but evidence came out that DeSantis (or even his backers/campaign staff by association) was for indicting/jailing Trump to "get him out of the way", it would kill his campaign. And that would go for any other primary contender, imho. Might even end a career in politics.

Obama getting Ryan's divorce records unsealed in the Illinois Senate race may have worked for him, but scummy tactics are standard procedure for the Left, even lauded (another case in point--Harry Reid slandering Romney, then when called out on it, prety much said "but we won, didn't we?)
