Something I would expect from the democrats but not the republicans. Add that to MGT’s side show in congress. ( while I like MGT’s aggressiveness, with her it’s just a show and she will prove to be a snake and backstab us when it really matters.)

Republicans must be desperate to keep their control over the voters to go through such lengths.

You can question how well she will follow thru, but MTG is using real screen captures of Hunter, not fabricated AI fakes.

I’m wondering if this super pac is really supporting Trump, cause they are sinking DeSantis with these dumb and poorly executed tricks.

You said “Same sort of lies” about this article. Why would you say that? It doesn’t appear to me that this article has even a single “lie” in it. It has opinions relating to the relationship between DeSantis and Reynolds, and the author provides observations to back those opinions up.

The question is, did this group make the ad using an AI generated voice or not? Yes or no. It is indisputable that they did.

Did they intend on deceiving people to make them think it was Trump speaking. I think it is also indisputable that they did intend that, although it was somewhat poorly done.

There is no question that Trump didn’t write the things the AI Voice had him saying, and in that, it falls into the general issue of context, which is confused by inferring rather definitively that Trump said it.

And the author also observed that as of the time of writing it, DeSantis had not disavowed this group that supports him, or the video. The article doesn’t say DeSantis was behind it. It simply says he has not spoken out on it, although he likely gets money and support from the group.

I am curious, because you characterize it as “the same sort of lies”. What exactly is it that you see in the article as a lie?

That was how I took the article as well, as background to the issue of AI generation of voices and imagery. (Something I agree needs to be nipped in the bud in some way, if it even can be)

And I don’t mind the background information, something that is good to keep in mind.

I said "...There is no question that Trump didn’t DID write the things the AI Voice had him saying...

What I meant to say...kind of an important distinction in the discussion.

Once again, smells like Rove. And by that I mean, if not literally him, then someone who learned from his style.

I read in “Audubon” how AI is causing problems for wildlife photography. The photographer who is true to his work might have to slog to some remote location and wait long periods of time until he finds his subject in a perfect setting. Another person might sit at the computer and use AI, saving himself all the time and effort, and might even get a better picture. The problem is the AI photo is of something that never happened. It’s just as fake as those computer-generated “these people never existed” photos. The AI “wildlife photographer” at least usually goes for something that is plausible , but he could go for something completely off the wall. I could make a photo of an Ivory-Billed Woodpecker clinging to a maple tree trunk here in Indiana. Implausible? Well, here is a photo of it.

We are in some dangerous territory when politicians and government officials use AI to generate audio, video, and text. A guy such as Stalin would have loved AI. I expect politicians to lie, but I prefer to be lied to in the good old-fashioned low-tech way. It’s easier to catch the lie.

I thought about that as well too, but the critical thing is, if DeSantis is accepting money and support from them, and does not reject this, it is a bad sign.

Since DeSantis first became visible on the national stage, I have been keeping an open mind with respect to him, just keeping my ear on the rail, neither accepting or rejecting him.

I appreciate many of the things he did as governor, but I don’t like what I see as his tendency (in my opinion) to put his finger in the air and triangulate his answers.

Granted, that may indeed be normal and responsible behavior for a politician, but if I get a whiff of it, it makes me distrustful because in my personal life, I reject the triangulation process.

"We're way behind Republican vs. Democrat."

I am sure you meant 'beyond'... (autocorrect?)..

True but she set up Trump with Milo. She’s cheated on her husband and kissed McCarthy’s ass and supported the debt increase. Her character is one of a ruthless narcissist. We like her now because her fangs are on Biden, don’t say I didn’t warn you when she turns to bite the American people when it’s to her benefit and our loss.

Agreed. I’m not a huge fan of her.

Typical of a lot of these women, they talk a good game coming into DC, then within a couple of years they divorce their husbands, move in with a lobbyist, and join the Swamp.

In the case of MTG and Boebert, those two are fighting over who called who a bitch, and who’s Impeachment was better.

What a pair !

Does DeSantis control the “Never Back Down” PAC? Did he personally have a hand in creating this deceptive ad from that PAC?

Again, before rabid only-Trumpers bash me for asking these questions, I fully intend to vote for Trump in the primary and general elections.

I don’t see any evidence, yet, that DeSantis had any say in the creation of this ad. A PAC that supports him did, but I haven’t seen that he influenced its creation.

I don’t see any evidence that DeSantis created this ad.

It’s my understanding that a PAC created this ad.

That said, it would be nice if DeSantis comments on this ad, denouncing it as deceptive.

So, DeSantis has no control over a PAC supporting him? That’s absurd.
