New York City has agreed to pay more than $13 million to settle a civil rights lawsuit brought on behalf of roughly 1,300 people who were arrested or beaten by police during racial injustice demonstrations that swept through the city during the summer of 2020.
If approved by a judge, the settlement, which was filed in Manhattan federal court Wednesday, would be among the most expensive payouts ever awarded in a lawsuit over mass arrests, experts said.
The lawsuit focused on 18 of the many protests that erupted in New York City in the week following the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis. With certain exceptions, people arrested or subjected to force by NYPD officers at those events will each be eligible for $9,950 in compensation, according to attorneys for the plaintiffs.

This opens the door for anyone who was subjected to the illegal lockdowns. Paying rioters who ignored the lockdown diktat sets the precedence for the lockdowns as invalid.
More interesting will be the terms of the settlement. The left’s tactic is to get sued by their friends and agree to settlement terms where, not only are their friends enriched, but future administrations are bound by terms of the settlement agreement which are entered as court orders. If a new Giuliana type mayor were to be elected to clean things up, they will probably be sued at every step for violating court orders under the terms of these settlement agreements.
New York is rolling in the dough and they have lot’s of cash to hand out. Good for them. This generosity will for sure help others to bring similar law suits. Then they will go to Washington D.C and ask for some more CASH.. and the fly over country will have to pay.

Months of rioting and looting in NYC (Even Macy's was looted), and now they will reward those that were arrested. Makes sense. No wonder NYC cops are leaving in droves.

I think I read in an article from yesterday that NYC has put the word out to illegals that NO city services will be provided in the future.

That’s apparently how the game is played.
If a patriot ever occupies the White House again, the first order of business should be a raft of civil rights violation suits from the J6 political prisoners, followed by quick cash settlements in the millions of dollars.
