US deployment of 2,500 troops to PKK-controlled northern Syria raises counterterrorism concerns, sparking criticism from Türkiye and questioning NATO alliance unity

Following Türkiye's relentless struggle against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a series of controversial steps have been taken consecutively by the US.

The US military beefing up in Syria keeping the Conoco Oil Fields safe for "Democracy".

I hear there's a Delaware oil company in the Syrian oil business too.

Russia, Iran and Syria blamed for this but shooting in Syria would be a distraction from the mess in Ukraine.

But the Turks not happy the US protecting the Kurdish forces there considered terrorists and well all the kiss up at the NATO Summit with the Turks allowing Sweden in is disturbed by the US decision to send more military might to Syria.

I wish I could say going hot is incorrect.

I wish I could say that.

I see no evidence to the contrary.

We have some interest to prevent the Kurds from getting slaughtered. It’s our responsibility because we’ve been intervening in the Middle East for decades. Iraq. Libya. And the Turks are the bad guys. Even though they’re our allies.

Kurds are the best allies we had in Syria and Iraq.

Without them, ISIS would never have been defeated. They could not have done it on their own and we could not had done it without them.

Those are FACTS.

Turkey is NATO, but Erdooo is an Islamist Dictator.

Our alliance with Turkey into NATO was brought about with the Kemalists. They were secular and were in power a long time.

Kemal was a dictator, but he brought Turkey out of the middle ages.

It is a very complicated region. I followed this ever day for over 7 years and knew good people there. That told the Truth, the reality of the Middle East.

Kemal was a dictator, but he brought Turkey out of the middle ages.

Kemal was great. But it seems like the Kemalists were out of power after the '90s. Now the Islamists are in charge of Turkey. So it appears that Turkey is no longer aligned with the West. Turkey remains valuable due to the Turkish straits otherwise we would have kicked them out of NATO by now.

“Kurds are the best allies we had in Syria and Iraq.

LOL. ISIS was organized by the CIA and defeated by the Russians. The Kurds and the US are in the small part of the country, that is oil-rich for some reason.

I wonder why all of you are appalled by the Russian “invasion” of Ukraine by okay with the US stealing from Syrian children and squatting on Syrian territory.

You said: “ISIS was organized by the CIA and defeated by the Russians.”

Absolute nonsense.

CIA armed groups of Muslim Militias, They did almost nothing but take our money. They were NOT ISIS.

ISIS came from Sadam’s Iraq with heavy armor.

Russia did not defeat ISIS.

I followed every battle from Kobane to the end of ISIS in far Eastern Syria above the River. Had very close friend on the ground there. I have huge library of the daily maps from the tablets they used to monitor progress. Kurds are brave people and I found them truthful. I never caught one of my friends there in a lie.

The Kurds(with Syriac Christians and Arab allies) lost 10,000 fighters (men and women) defeating ISIS.

I know what I am talking about.

The elements of Muslim fighters that the CIA financed were in NW Syria and moving arms through Turkey be used in Syria to defeat Assad.

Benghazi was collection point for anti vehicle weapons from Libya. That is what was going on in Benghazi.

They were not ISIS. Later ISIS moved in and picked up some of the militia members we had paid for doing almost nothing.

You know nothing. ISIS was not any outstanding from the entire bunch of terrorists the CIA supported to topple the Syrian government. The bunch has fractured later with different competing groups pop up, some turned against their sponsors that was absolutely expected.
The rest of your points are as ignorant.
Bottom line is that Syria and its oil belongs to Syrians.

The bottom line is you have praised Russia for as long as I have known you.

And you made excuses for Assad, who is as treacherous as a snake.

Hezbollah out of Lebanon are terrorists who get free run in Syria.

You know that I am not new to this.

After turning Iraq upside down, the US deep-state tried to overthrow Assad with proxies, and created the greatest refugee flow in Europe since WWII - and you want to claim the rise of ISIS was just some random, natural event?

You don’t make any reasonable point. Assad is a president of Syria, it is within his competency to decide what is going on in his country. And I don’t see any explanation on by the CIA backed terrorists are better than Hezbollah. If were weren’t the US support for terrorists, Hezbollah wouldn’t have influence over Assad to a such degree as well.
