And his supporters told trump to screw off. How nice of them. Didn’t listen to trump at all.
On January 6, Trump should have stayed in the background and let the process play itself out as members of the House and Senate protested the electoral college count.
Instead, he was behind a podium airing his grievances before a crowd that was infiltrated by Feds and ready to halt the legal process that was underway in Congress. Republicans had prepared a game plan to stop the electoral count. It was derailed by the protests just as Democrats planned.
It was a stupid move on Trump’s part, but he can’t help himself. He always has to be front and center with everything and ends up shooting himself in the foot.
He walked right into the trap the Democrats had set for him. They knew he intended to whip up his supporters before a protest march. He telegraphed his intentions days in advance. Nothing like telling your enemies your battle plan. Pelosi and Schumer knew exactly what to do. How else do you explain the absence of security and an adequate police force to control the crowd?
What DeSantis said is CORRECT.
Trump PROMISED to “Meet them at the Capitol” but went AWOL when the secret service wouldn’t take him.
Instead of stopping the riot, he was too busy calling other politicians to taunt them!
He was reveling in the riot, according to all testimony, even his kids who said he ignored their texts pleading him to do something.
Those are the facts. Doesn’t mean he needs to go to jail necessarily, but he could have done a lot more to stop what led to all THOSE OTHER PEOPLE being thrown in jail.
