A Russian fighter jet flew dangerously close to a manned U.S. surveillance craft in the air over Syria, endangering the lives of all four American crew members, the U.S. military announced Monday.
The Sunday flyby was the latest in a series of incidents in which Russian aircraft harassed American warplanes and drones in the air over Syria. A Russian SU-35v approached a U.S. MC-12 in a manner that could have resulted in a fatal accident, officials said.
Officials did not clarify exactly how close the Russian craft came to the warplane, but there have been myriad examples of similar behavior by Russian forces in recent weeks.

There is a war on, you know.
And we’re in Syria because?
Russia is in Syria by Assad’s invitation.
Why are we there?
How’s Libya doing since our bombing?
Civil war and slavery?…nice.
Moral high ground…
Because Lindsey Graham and John McCain wanted us there.
American aircraft have no business in Syria.
The U.S. may leave some forces in Syria to secure oil fields and make sure they don’t fall into the hands of a resurgent Islamic State, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Monday, even though President Donald Trump has insisted he is pulling troops out of the country and getting out of “endless wars.”
The Pentagon chief said the plan was still in the discussion phase and had not yet been presented to Trump, who has repeatedly said the Islamic State has been defeated.
What was the US aircraft “ surveilling” and under what authority?
Fly too close to Russian bases in Syria ( legally invited by host govt) = FAFO
Bidenistas flailing in Ukraine Trying to create an excuse to shoot at Russians in Syria and start a side war?
The "islamists" were the CIA's friends in the Al-Nusra Front, promoted by Obama and McCain to overthrow Assad. An operation, which BTW, created the greatest refugee flow in Europe since WWII.
"manned" 🤔🤔🤔
Good question - because didn’t they tell us at some point that we weren’t there anymore...?
And to what end purpose, since we’ve been in country for years and haven’t accomplished anything of note, with no known goals being pursued?
I would be surprised if a Russian fighter jet buzzed an unmanned US warplane over Syria.
“Why are we there?”
We’re defending the “rules-based order”.
Who’s rules you ask?
The FedGov’s rules.
WE were there to support one side in a Civil War, Russia support the other site (Assad) we wanted to get rid of him. Assad won the Civil War—we should have pulled out—we keep hoping Assad will fall and Russia forced out by the “Brave Freedom Fighter” cut throats we support. That horse died a long time ago. It would be like England supporting the Confederacy in 1867—the war is done.
Wait till the bullets start to fly—think Iran will not step in? Think Israel will come to our aid? Think again. We will be over our head quickly fighting in a dozen places at once.
When it all goes South—it will go quickly. Americans will not be permitted to think—we will be in it to win it. Enjoy the flags, patriotic marches and songs. Enjoy the unity and Law & Order. It will be great fun—until it isn’t.

Was this US plane under, what control: USAF, NSA, DOD, CIA, all the above?
All the previous incidents involved unmanned drones. Why a manned aircraft now. We trying to provoke an incident?
Well, US has been there since 2011. To deny AIQ now ISIS bases and operations from which to launch attacks into Iraq and Jordan.
