But I was referring to Reagan’s personality, his ability to attract middle-of-the-road voters (and many Democrats) to the GOP. Reagan was a funny and charming guy. He even got Mondale to laugh during one of the debates. Remember that?
That’s what we need today. A clever Republican leader who has the ability to charm the middle. I first thought it would be Sarah Palin. Then I thought it would be Donald Trump. I was wrong both times.

I think we are past that. A significant part of the country is now fine with gender transitioning primary schoolers etc.
there isn’t a middle of the road on this stuff. Who is middle of the road on hormones and castration for 10 year olds ?
The political differences are so great now, there is no bridging that gap with personal charm and funny stories.
