Speaker Kevin McCarthy must lead Congress to recognize the atrocity of the Sikh Genocide
Sacramento Bee ^ | July 17, 2023 | BY THE FRESNO BEE EDITORIAL BOARD

In 1984 the prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi, allowed government officers to storm one of Sikhism’s holiest temples in a search for separatists who were agitating for a new country. In response, her bodyguards assassinated her. That led to a multiple-day attack across India by the authorities and citizens against Sikhs. When it was over, the government said 3,300 Sikhs had died. Estimates by independent observers put the toll between 8,000 and 17,000. Other estimates put the number at about 30,000 people who lost their lives in the ethnic killing. No matter the number, Sikhs worldwide have considered the 1984 rampage as a genocide. And now the California Legislature agrees.

He cannot get impeachment against Biden and his officials, why think he could address something like this? Or, is there money to be made off it?

Maybe we start by ending H1B and deporting all Indians. Should be bringing their tribal conflicts here.

Hey Kevin, how about cutting back on spending, stop base line budgeting, getting rid of useless federal agencies, reign in the FBI and start impeachment proceeding against Myorkis and the “big guy?” Maybe then we can believe you’re not a deep state pawn.

The nitwits are citizens of the United States and other western countries, and they want to foment violence, murder and mayhem in India. Maybe they should move back to Punjab.

So, how many genocides must we recognize and talk about? Turkey and the Armenians, China and the Uyghurs, Russia and the Ukrainians (past and present?) There’s literally an infinite supply. But this one is more important than all the others? Why is that? Because it suits someone else’s agenda?

Here’s the facts. Everyone knew, for example, what a genocidal maniac Stalin was. But the thing is, we still had to deal with him. Hence, a lot of things didn’t get mentioned. Same with Turkey. The world is an ugly place, but if you want to move forward and deal with today’s problems you need to deal with just today’s problems. Leave the other problems for special interest groups.

If we don’t repeal the Hart-Cellar Act and return to a strict quota immigration system limited to only white Europeans, we will cease to exist as a nation.

Hey Kevin, how about

How about asking why now instead of why not when Pelosi was Speaker?

Don’t give a flying fornication about the Sikhs, Or what happened in the old country. That’s not an American problem.

OK. So what? How is this any of our business? If the Fresno Bee editorial board feels so strongly about it, they can all move to India and do something about it there. Our Congress needs to work on all of the problems in the US - many of which were created by Congress. Hopefully they can take a break from shoveling our tax dollars to Ukraine to get on it one of these days.

Poohs back to Poohland.

The only reason Chinese people aren’t the rudest people on Earth is because there are Indian people.

The Sikhs need to put on their big boy turbans and deal with it. The U.S. was not and is not responsible.

Oh, and if you don’t want an ethnic war against your particular group, maybe don’t betray and assassinate your country’s leader. Stuff like that can make a populace cranky if they liked the leader.

Sounds like something really evil happened there.

But my first reaction is ‘Not our circus. Not our monkeys.’
We should not put ourselves in the position as the world’s moral scold.

After all, how would we feel if, say, Iceland decided to lecture us on the My Lai massacre? Or if Indonesia decided to lecture us on the Battle of Wounded Knee?

Nope. Not our circus. Not our monkeys. If anything, let the UN fuss over it.
The US can cast a vote on that there.

Indira was using forced sterilization against the Sihks to destroy the future voting population of her rivals. With 3 of 4 hundred thousand forced sterilizations, her Sihk bodyguards took action.
