By that logic, we should eschew all firearms for hunting.

They’re rather small whales.

Small or not, it should stop. Denmark should be held accountable for this occurring and should be forced to deal with it. I’ll be curious to see what the EU does about this.

They’re rather bright as well.

They’re large dolphins, actually, and classified as “least concern” so far as conservation goes. Indigenous people probably do more damage to the salmon runs on the Colombia.

recent studies demonstrate a direct link between such diseases as Parkinson’s, hypertension and arteriosclerosis of the carotid arteries in Faroese adults and the consumption of pilot whale meat. Children and pregnant people are especially at high risk. Pregnant people?

Sounds like mercury poisoning. To be expected in an apex marine predator.

I’m hesitant to criticize anybody’s preferred manner of hunting. No matter what one does it can be messy and will be open to criticism. As long as they are doing it in a sustainable manner, which hopefully they are doing if they want to see their “traditions” and the harvest to keep going year after year.

As long as the whales aren’t endangered, they have every right to continue their traditional hunt.
At least they know where and how their sustainance comes from. Which is more than most Americans can say as they dig in their processed meals in front of the boob tube.
Ironic though, it’s modern society’s dumping of mercury into the ocean that may doom this hunt as the levels of this heavy metal accumulates in the bodies of the Islanders

Tuna just doesn’t taste right without the dolphin in it.

They find plastic in the whales stomachs so I would call anyone who complains for the welfare of the whales a hypocrite.
