When I said bayonets I really just meant whatever the modern version of basic field expedient methods would be.

Didn't use bayonets in mine-clearing training 25 years ago for that reason. Then, we used plastic probing sticks that were a little thinner than a pencil and pointed at one end.
Best way to protect antitank mines from hand-probing is to seed antipersonnel mines among them. Only thing in infantry school that gave me the willies was landmine training.
