Going into the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines on Friday, the big story was whether Donald Trump’s contemptuous decision to skip the presumably obligatory cattle call for Republican presidential candidates before a large and influential crowd of conservative evangelicals would damage his candidacy. Trump aside, however, the big question was whether one of the dark horse candidates stalking the former president and Florida governor Ron DeSantis would have a breakout moment at the day-long event. Former vice president Mike Pence, whose intimate ties with the Christian Right go back decades, and Senator Tim Scott, who has been delivering a decidedly religious pitch to voters in Iowa, were thought to have a real opportunity to shine in this very churchy venue.
, But the star wasn’t Scott or Pence or anyone else thumping a Bible, and Trump’s snub was all but forgotten. For that matter, the traditional culture-war concerns of the Christian Right got short shrift. Instead, designated candidate interviewer Tucker Carlson and his personal obsessions were the center of attention, as the Des Moines Register’s Brianne Pfannenstiel reported:

“First, thanks for not trying to deny what’s going on at the Southern Border. As to the Teddy Bears, the problem is that he’s seen as welcoming people coming in through our backdoor, using loopholes in our laws (like claiming refugee status)...and the people down there see it.
Would have been much better to simply report on what’s going on, interview law enforcement, border guards (wearing masks, of course), etc - but not trying to mimic those hot German girls with the huge “WELCOME REFUGEES” sign at Berlin International (or wherever).”
Valid points. Will take into consideration. But...
I have to confess. As long as someone stands in opposition to the radical/Marxist left and exposes them for who and what they are, I will continue to approve of them doing so. I’m just funny that way.
No clue what you are attempting to say. But, I did not write the article.
Anyone attacking Tucker is defending the Republican establishment and is the sworn enemy of conservatives and the MAGA movement.
You want to post left-wing hit pieces on Tucker, get lost and watch MSNBC or The View.
“No clue what you are attempting to say. But, I did not write the article.”
Uh huh. Sure thing. You’re clueless. Got it.
Tucker may be saying the right things now, but above all he’s an opportunist who sees a niche market he can exploit for money.

Ditto 100% and the sheeeple lap it up.
Agree...
I NEVER EVER missed an episode of Beck when he was on Fox, that man taught me more on his chalk board than I could have ever learned elsewhere!! I purchased ROKU when Beck left so I could follow him!! I became turned off with Beck when he became obsessed with electing Cruz in 2016 primary SCREAMING that Trump was not conservative, MANY, MANY felt this way HOWEVER I judged Trump by his children!! You don’t raise children like his and be a liberal, you don’t have AMAZING detailed businesses having liberal values!! There were HUGE FIGHTS on this site over Trump vs Cruz AND the Trump supporters were right BEST POTUS EVER!!! Trump will NEVER be a part of their club he doesn’t NEED acceptance into their club, he is a HUGE SUCCESS in his own right!!
LOL. MSN is deeply CONCERNED about the "Christian Right" Confab. The fact that they call it "Christian Right" is telling. Why haven't I heard the term the "Atheist Left" from these outlets?!
The interview clips that I heard from Tucker were very valid questions for christians. Sending money, billions of dollars to Ukraine for the war, he asked Asa Hutchinson about the child mutilation and puberty blocking. These are all valid questions - things that are related to the candidates views and actions. They were not loaded or unfair questions. Tucker respectfully gave them the opportunity to answer those questions.

Lol....too much caffeine?
Beck was correct re: Trump not being a Conservative. And if you will recall, Trump’s family were all registered Democrats. They weren’t even able to vote ‘for’ Trump in the primary because of that.
I tend to not trust anyone that still is or ‘was’ a Democrat, even though I do know one or two exceptions to that rule ...ie Reagan... and now Trump, since he did work “for” America vs. against us.
That said, I have to keep wondering who it is in Trump’s immediate circle that keeps betraying him. Who could it be...?
The early question to DeSantis about the red tide in Florida was interesting and out of place. I think it was poised as a gotcha question, but DeSantis handled it directly, smoothly, and knowledgeably. With a smile.
I used to watch Glenn Beck on Fox. By the time he left, I didn't miss him. Watching and listening Friday, it appears he's recovered, getting back into a groove. Too bad his BlazeTV is expensively out-of-reach.
And I muse about a candidate forum, maybe a debate setting with Tucker and Beck as the moderators. That would be interesting and entertaining.
oh, my ... hard-leftist corporate media organs Des Moines Register and MSN produce hit piece on Tucker Carlson because he exposed their star RINO candidates as, well RINOS, with about two questions apiece ...
apparently, you’re extremely upset about that yourself, jumping on the pro-RINO bandwagon yourself ...
Cruz and Trump back then, now Trump and DeSantis. Like a loop, history repeating itself in many respects. Sometimes here on FR with the same people. Funny, the Cruz defenders are now the Trump defenders, the Trump folks from 2016 are now DeSantis.
Probably not. The Trump people are still Trump. A few breakways are DeSantis.
Keep in mind some of the same people backing Cruz in 2016 are running RDS campaign. Which is obvious.
Yes, I noticed early on that DeSantis has a number of former Cruz campaign staff. He can't win with losers so hopefully that will change.
I view DeSantis as the second coming of Scott Walker. Remember the splash that guy made then to suddenly disappear.
Do yourself a big favor and stay far away from the political consulting biz.
Yes, Tuckers questions - even on his old Fox TC show - have always been not about paticular news of the day, as much as matters Tucker was interested in. There’s always other Conservative issues but they may not be what Tukcer cares as much about.
“Donald Trump’s contemptuous decision to skip”...quit reading right there.
Tucker won’t send teddy bears down to the southern border.
