Russia will regard Western F-16 fighter jets sent to Ukraine as a "nuclear" threat because of their capacity to carry atomic weapons, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday.
Modern warplanes have been at the forefront of Kyiv's demands for military aid from its Western allies as it fights back against Russia's offensive. Lavrov spoke of a US plan to transfer F-16s to Ukraine, although Washington has not given the go-ahead for any country to supply them.
"Russia cannot ignore the ability of these aircraft to carry nuclear weapons. No amount of assurances will help here," Lavrov was quoted as saying by the Russian foreign ministry.
"In the course of combat operations, our servicemen are not going to sort out whether each particular aircraft of this type is equipped to deliver nuclear weapons or not.
"We will regard the very fact that the Ukrainian armed forces have such systems as a threat from the West in the nuclear sphere."

Anytime a USAF fighter or bomber aircraft is around there will be nukes as well.
If Lavrov is correct, we might as well give some nuclear weapons to Ukraine along with the F-16s.
In other words, we can’t defeat the F16 legacy fighter of the West. LOL
If the U.S. had a strong, respected leader in the WH, i.e. Trump, Russia wouldn’t be talking about nukes or threatening the use of them because they know Trump wouldn’t eff around when it comes to using them in the defense of the U.S.
But since we have a weak, senile, confused and hapless person filling that position, the Russians feel emboldened.
Of course, the crazed DC neocons running the Escalation Escalator will ignore the warning.
I presume this will mean that if the F-16s are based in NATO countries, those countries will be on the menu for The Bear.
“Anytime a USAF fighter or bomber aircraft is around there will be nukes as well.”
The difference, of course, being that the Azovs running Ukraine will actually USE THEM first.
At some point the Russian nuclear arsenal of over 7,000 warheads must be taken seriously.
In that particular case, I'm sure the Russians would be happy to donate some of their own nukes to various EU capital cities.
“In other words, we can’t defeat the F16 legacy fighter of the West. LOL”
It’s not about their inability to defeat the usage of F16s. It’s about the threat from the US/Ukraine, led by Marxist leftists against Russia (ironic, to say the least) to start a nuclear WWIII. And I find it odd, to say the least, that anyone finds that “LOL” worthy.
Stolen Elections come at a very high price and bring dire consequences.
We are living this reality.
Taunting the Russians like a little kid would is gonna work out just swell.
Our Rainbow military is already behind the times in combat experience, compared to the Russians and the Ukrainians.
But our guys can wear assault high heels:
Russia, Russia Russia !
Makes me hot to hear the NeoConmen chant it, XoXo Hillary
Uh....Nope! Remember the B52 at Barksdale incident where bunches of generals got fired because there were nukes that were not supposed to be there. It was a dark day for the USAF.
Yeah, and if we REALLY THOUGHT that our F-16s were going to be effective against Russia, rather than being shot down, Ukraine would have a fleet of them by now.
Words mean little - actions mean a lot.
The nuclear threat has existed in Europe for decades and the F16s would not be the preferred delivery method. The Russians are, as usual, escalating their threats. After a while, it’s just noise.
In other words, we can’t defeat the F16 legacy fighter of the West. LOL
given the hype about the capabilities of the Leopard and Bradley, vs actual battlefield performance - let’s wait
So maybe not this particular time, but they are working on it. Each provocation is a little bit closer.
