Won’t go anywhere.
Starting new conservative sites from scratch takes too much time, money and effort. Liberals let someone else build the system, then they take over the existing system. Starting from scratch costs too much.
Flame away, I don’t care.
I’ll put my money where my beliefs are and WILL patronize their business. PROVIDED: THEIR PRODUCTS, PRICES and SERVICES ARE GOOD.
But who will fund it? Amazon spent 43 billion developing their site, and they didn’t make a profit for the first 6 or seven years.
Buy there all you want, but unless the founders are willing to plow billions in, and spend years funding losses it won’t survive.
While wishing them the best, they have a LOT of game-upping to do.
Eg: signed up, entered ‘ratchet’ as a search term, got three ‘hits’ which only turned out to be links to the hits’ company websites.
That just won’t do.
No flames here. Just visited the home page to peruse. Can’t peruse unless you join. What genius would try to start a business without a tour or a sample offering.
I’ll probably check it out, but I’m starting out with a sense of resentment already.
After all, you can shop Amazon without a prime membership.
And what stops Amazon from dropping and canceling sellers who go on this new venture ?
Amazon’s money maker is huge Fed Gov and Fed agencies data contracts. That made the company possible.
RE: Buy there all you want, but unless the founders are willing to plow billions in, and spend years funding losses it won’t survive.
So what? If I get my product and the price is right, what’s the loss for me? The gain is I support a company that supports my values.
Let’s say worse comes to worst, it eventually fails, so be it, not monetary lose for me but a sense of regret ( which I can cope ). Better to have tried than not at all.
We keep complaining about our production and manufacturing going to other countries and woke companies that hate America making too much money to spend more money insulting our beliefs.... well, here’s one group of businessmen willing to try. Why not support them? What’s the lose to you personally ?
I bet millions of others who think like me will do the same.
I wonder how many people these days give up an email address on strange sites based on curiosity.
I start out with the premise that if you give me nothing in return for my email address, then your intentions are not good. Because my email address is attached to certain information which is valuable to sell.
Have to agree, asking you to “join” before you see what you are joining, is a very strange business model. Sounds more like a data collecting/selling scheme.
“Won’t go anywhere. Starting new conservative sites from scratch takes too much time, money and effort. Starting from scratch costs too much.”
even more than that, major functional spaces on the internet are subject to a critical mass requirement, and like the formation of a sun, there’s no matter left for another sun to form anywhere nearby ... hence, there’s little remaining matter for another ebay, craigslist, amazon, or google to form and ignite ...
I’ve usedAmazon and Prime for many years. What is so woke or left wing about them that I should abandon them?
There was a place a few years ago (now, maybe 10?) that listed all sorts of goods for sale that were made in America.
I believe it was “www.madeinusa.com” or something similar.
It’s gone by the wayside, I believe.
bttt
RE: It’s gone by the wayside, I believe.
Several possibilities:
1. Not enough things people want or need are Made in the USA anymore.
2. Even if there were things that people want or need made in the USA, they were too pricey for most consumers
3. There are not enough consumers who are willing to pay the prices as stated in point 2 above to bring in sufficient revenue and profit for the company to continue in business.
4. Not many potential customers in the USA are aware of such a business.
5. The business did not have a rich supporter (like Elon Musk ) to sustain its operation till it made a profit.
I personally hope that this company PublicSq. is not on a similar quixotic endeavor…
RE: What is so woke or left wing about them …?
How soon people forget. Parler was an alternative to Twitter (before Elon Musk took over ) that allowed people to post about the dangers of the Covid vaccines and the rigged 2020 presidential elections. Amazon DEPLATFORMED Parler ( who was using the Amazon AWS Cloud Servers as their platform) as a result of this. Parler had to rebuild their own data servers from scratch to be back in business.
See here:

Of course, you know that Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos OWNS the left-wing Washington Post. If you don’t, we’ll now you know.
Buy there all you want, but unless the founders are willing to plow billions in, and spend years funding losses it won’t survive."
Now unlike your first post that is a reasonable observation. The at-home market is so absurdly yuge now, if they pick their shots, and really cater to conservative tastes, and avoid a 2024 recession, they could string along a while.
Meanwhile where is their poison pill from simply being snatched up by Bezos?
.
That might defeat the owners' purpose for starting the site.
