These same homeowners voted for the leftist politicians who are allowing this criminal behavior to go on, they should be happy with what they are about to receive. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever, this is a self-inflicted wound they had time to stop but chose to support.

A shotgun is a poor home defensive weapon. A home invasion can happen at the most inopportune moment and you're not going to lug a shotgun around the house at all times. You're much better off carrying a pistol at all times when you're up and keeping it right next to you when you go to bed.

My only encounter with someone trying to gain access to my living area was at a motel at 0430. I woke up to two criminals trying to jimmy open the balcony slider. Normally my Labrador Retriever would have sounded the alarm, but she was being kenneled for two nights because we had a very hectic schedule. But I did have my Glock 23 right next to me, so I grabbed it, pulled the curtain aside with my free hand and let the barrel gently tap against the glass. Those two invaders jumped over the balcony so fast I didn't even have time to decide who was going to take the first round. This is also why I always have one in the chamber. Had I not awakened before they made entry, I wouldn't have had to worry about racking the slide.

The way I see it:

If you boot my door, I’m puttin’ lead on your ass! Somebody mentioned carrying a firearm at all times or having one in close proximity! I do. And, if everyone knew what was waiting for them “out-there,” they would too.

The idiot reporter using “censors” instead of “sensors” was why the SMH. Nothing wrong with having outdoor lights with motion sensors. I prefer not to have them sensitive enough to light up for every small animal, though. Cars and people, fine.

A few crocodiles would take care of the potential lawsuit issue. They can’t sue if they’re never found.

Security cameras??

Door braces???

Pfft.

Too bad they can’t arm themselves, like the 18 year old OK mama, who took care of her intruders.

No matter where you live, there should be more between your household and armed invasion than one door, even if it’s reinforced. Breaching rounds and battering rams are highly effective on entry doors.

Better to have the most ordinary outer door you can get, one that an invader can take out with one good kick. Then a few feet beyond that door, have your real security. For me it’s a 1/8” solid steel door which is completely blank on the entry side, mounted in a heavy steel frame secured to studs on both sides and the top, and bolted to the slab at the bottom. The hinges are not visible on the entry side, it’s secured with two bolts on the house side, good luck with a battering ram or breaching rounds.

The main thing is, all surprise is lost while the invaders are still locked outside your living space. Puts time on your side.

Dynamic entry is almost never attempted via windows. But covert entry is another matter. For this reason I have super-tough steel screens over the windows, which would require time and power tools to breach, but can be opened from the interior for escape if needed. They are not cheap but the peace of mind is almost priceless.

Maybe because of all the cultural enrichment going on in Southern Idaho?
