PORTLAND, OR - A Fire Weather Watch will be in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday night with the forecast calling for strong wind, low humidity, and high temperatures.
Portland General Electric sent an email Thursday to customers in wildfire-prone areas asking them to take steps to prepare for fire season.
A PGE spokesperson said the company monitors weather conditions like heat, humidity and wind levels.
People should also have a plan on what to do if you lose power that includes the needs of medically-fragile family members and pets.
John Farmer with PGE says people should be prepared in the event of an emergency.
"Even though we've identified these areas that are at a greater risk for wildfire, a wildfire could happen anywhere across our area. And we want everyone to be prepared because at any point, given weather conditions, we could call a Public Safety Power Shutoff anywhere in our service area," said Farmer.

But….but….how will they charge their EVs????
So far people could keep the useless electric car in the garage and drive the gas powered one.
Use their gas stove because it wasn’t banned at the time they bought it.
So far.
Ooooooh? Good question!😊
> But….but….how will they charge their EVs???? <
The government should decree that during power shortages, electricity can only be used to charge EVs.
That’s a stupid idea, and unenforceable. So the government will probably do it.
Another Democrats’ success story.
“how will they charge their EVs?”
That is what the unicorn herds are for—their excrement will do the job.
;-)
Once they get 200,000,000 windmills online they’ll flatten this curve.
Very true.
But all cars and trucks must be EVs.
A shame, CA is physically the most beautiful state.
San Jose was amazing to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s…
The fires in the Santiam valley starting above Detroit were horrendous. The power company is getting sued for not shutting off the power. Damned it you do. Damned if you don’t. Personally i’d rather go without power than have 10000+ acres burn.
This is why I get upset when people bash Florida all the time. California, Washington and Oregon have even bigger problems. But bad ole Florida….
I dont know why anyone would pay to listen to that Psychic Friends network for advice.
B*tch dont even know the way to San Jose.
In the pitch dark with the sounds of urban thugs breaking the glass of stores and homes with no power for burglar alarms, it is better to light a single candle than curse the darkness.🕯️
Oops, wrong “P”.
Weird forecast.
Here in Seattle, we are expecting temps in the 81-83 F range for Friday through Sunday.
Normal is 77-78 F.
July and August are the driest and warmest months of the year - every year.
