Why did Israel support the Azeris in their war against Armenia?

I fully expect to read very soon, “The Jews have an obligation to the Satanists in America.”
No idea. Putin did, too, and also ordered the Armenians to give up their ancient stronghold in Nagorno-Karabakh and financed the Azeri natural gas pipeline there. Ostensibly, he’s the declared protector of the eastern churches.
Israel has a substantial Armenian population. They have their own quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem. One would think that for their sake Israel would have at least stayed out of the conflict.
If I had to support anyone, it’d be the Armenians, for the reasons stated in my #1 above.
