We did not win independence from the british crown using sit-down strikes and non-violent protests. I love “conservatives” who beg for money to “fight” for traditional values, and who always have to throw in the old, “I don’t mean any actual fighting or violence”. Violence or threat of violence decides everything in this fallen world.

No, but we started with non-violent protests, until we were met with violence, which gave us the moral authority to respond with violence ourselves as justifiable self defense.
Modern day Americans mostly don’t even have the stomach for non-violent civil disobedience though.
