Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday he would not be former President Donald Trump’s running mate if given the opportunity to join him on the ticket.
“I don’t think so. I’m not a No. 2 guy,” DeSantis said on the “Wisconsin Right Now” radio show, saying he would rather stay on as governor because the vice presidency “doesn’t really have any authority.”
Asked about his own thoughts on a running mate, DeSantis said, "It’s a little bit presumptuous to be doing that at this stage."
"I’m here to win the early primaries, and that’s what we’ve got to do first," he added.

Why would anybody who is still running in the primary process, concede to be an opponent’s #2? That’s what people do AFTER they drop out. Saying you would be an opponent’s #2 would be about the dumbest thing anybody still running could do.
I don’t think DeSantis wins the nomination. But I also know that momentum changes. I remember McCain on the brink of elimination with an unbelievable surge. Some old stories about his campaign being on its last dime. I’m happy to see the process play out.
This is a flippin primary process. People have been doing it for a long time.
What the heck do you expect somebody in a primary to say?

I'm the greatest, I'm number one!

To me, you look like number two, know what I mean?

That is dumb. We never want a lefty gov. , especially not in a Swing State.

I would not be Trumps VP … he has a nasty habit of supporting the jerks like Fauci while driving over the good ones like Kayleigh.

I’m thinking the only way to #1 for DeSantis is to be #2 to Trump.

DeSantis should change his campaign slogan -
Ron DeSantis - He's number one at number two
To: backpacker_c
He is from the same state.
Stupid article.

That would be about Trumps style. Wasn’t she the one that caved to the NCAA to allow guys to play in women’s sports?

Says he’ll settle for being a 0
To: backpacker_c
My preference would be if Trump picks a VP who is not a politician but knows enough about politics to be a real asset. Can back Trump on business of the country america first things. I hope God answers the prayers of allof us praying for our country to turn backto Him.

People on Free Republic keep saying that.
She signed a bill to ban males in female sports, after having rejected the first bill on the subject. Some Freepers will never forgive her for having rejected the first version of that bill.

That’s funny...Ron doesn’t want to be Number Two, yet he was one of 435 AND IT DIDN’T SEEM TO BOTHER HIM.
Can’t believe this is the same guy I really liked.
To: backpacker_c
Unless one of them moves out of Florida this would be a no-go to begin with as you lose the states electoral votes if both are from the same state.
Your criticism is, of course, bogus and insincere as Trump wouldn’t accept the VP slot either - and I’m sure you know that.

Ron doesn’t want to be Number Two, yet he was one of 435 AND IT DIDN’T SEEM TO BOTHER HIM. In what way are those two things comparable? Who was ahead of him in representing his Congressional district? Was he a Vice-Representative?
Criticizing just to criticize.
To: Nervous Tick
you promised them that you would serve your whole term when you last ran for the position. It doesn't appear that he said that:
