Former President Donald Trump criticized Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) after the governor appeared alongside Casey DeSantis for a “Mamas for DeSantis” event, casting doubt on her supposed neutrality in the race.
Trump said in a Truth Social post on Monday:
I love Iowa, protected & expanded Ethanol, got 28 Billion Dollars from China for our great Farmers, ended the Estate (Death!) Tax on farms, made the best TRADE deals in history (USMCA, China, & many more), introduced the World to our FARMERS, & kept Iowa’s ‘First in the Nation’ status.
“I opened up the Governor position for Kim Reynolds, & when she fell behind, I ENDORSED her, did big Rallies, & she won. Now, she wants to remain ‘NEUTRAL.’ I don’t invite her to events! DeSanctus down 45 points!” he exclaimed.
It is true that Reynolds has yet to officially endorse a candidate and has said she will not do so until after the Iowa caucus.

Kim Reynolds could write a book on how to turn a blue state red.
O I forgot 6 weeks is too harsh. The baby killing must continue. At least he’s consistent.
She couldn't write the first chapter without help from Donald J. Trump. Let your hate flow through that.
Name an iowa governor who has ever in history endorsed in an iowa primary before hand. We will wait.
SHUT UP, PRESIDENT TRUMP AND GROW UP!
So Trump “protected and expanded ethanol.” Thanks for nothing Don!
What is Ron's position on ethanol?
Nice feint, I enjoy how y’all twist yourselves into pretzels for Trump. DeSantis is now a nonfactor, why bring him up?
Thanks for not answering the question. DeSantis was never a factor.
DeSantis is against ethanol subsidies. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/07/07/trump-desantis-ethanol-00105239
lololol, you completely ignored Trump’s fandom for ethanol, truly Trumpian in scope. How does it feel to be a perpetual pretzel?
What is wrong with standing up for the American Farmer and protecting Ethanol Subsidies? This isn’t the Wall St. GOP anymore- this is the Trumplican Party now!

Trump wants to buy farmers’ votes at the expense of non-farmers. Ethanol makes gas cost more, hurts car engines, and increases the price of food by reducing the supply of land farmed for food.
Trump’s views on ethanol are the same as John McCain and other denizens of the Swamp.
He’s against ethanol mandates, as he should be.
Corn makes good whiskey. It makes terrible gasoline.
“So Trump “protected and expanded ethanol.” Thanks for nothing Don!”
Yep, I’d prefer to not remember that...but then Trump is Trump, and the performance of his judges is more than enough for me!
It also doesn’t hurt that Trump is the only Republican with a path to winning in November (no one else running, except maybe Vivek, has a prayer of winning the Midwest).
Governor Reynolds has been handed nearly unprecedented power by the voters of Iowa. She’s feeling her oats right now. Like many politicians she’ll end up overplaying her hand if she’s not careful. Any astute, serious observer of the political process in Iowa can discern she’s NOT with Trump at this point. My guess is she’ll do everything she can behind the scenes to support DeSantis and keep the option to support Trump when the inevitable happens. In the meantime DeSantis better make hay because thus far he’s stuck in the mud.
You still haven't answered a simple question.
You first, I don’t play silly games.
OK. I'm not sure how that position gains him any votes in Iowa. I thought you guys were chasing a winner. I expect him to soon soften his stance, eGOP politics 101. Trump is drawing attention to it to Iowans, politics 101.
Corn makes good whiskey. It makes terrible gasoline.
Agreed. Two points, it isn't gasoline, it's an additive and most modern engines large and small have been re-engineered to deal with ethanol. Any threat to that industry today would be foolish.
