Republicans are looking to recruit moderate and experienced candidates for Senate races in 2024 to avoid a repeat of losses in the 2022 midterms, GOP campaign experts and conservative commentators told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the GOP’s campaign arm responsible for Senate elections, is looking to place moderate nominees with elected experience in competitive races, experts told the DCNF. An emphasis on electability offered by experienced candidates, they said, is essential to winning — unlike novice candidates subscribing to former President Donald Trump’s brand of populism. In the 2022 midterm elections, Trump’s endorsement helped several populist candidates in Arizona, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Georgia win primary races over moderate candidates. All of them went on to lose their elections, which observers ascribed to their Trump-style views that were unpalatable to general election voters, with a “red wave” failing to materialize.
The concern has led to “electability” as being a top priority for candidates endorsed by the NRSC. A spokesperson for Republican Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, the NRSC’s chairman, told the DCNF that his “number one priority is recruiting candidates who can win a primary and a general election.”

moderates are not electable - they can’t survive the primary.
.
Lots of peeps going to stay home because of Uniparty lies.
The California Geniuses haven’t even thought about that.
They plan to go on Hannity with 35 days to Election and yell and holler, when people should be thinking, why did you vote with him for 3.5 years and protect him for 4-5 years?
Where are all the fiscal conservative voters gone? You know the ones that don't just want to cut spending on the programs they don't care about.
We must be nominating more Mitch McTurtles and Mitt Obamneys!
RINO scum McCarthy has it exactly backwards. If the GOPe do-nothings continue their worthless behavior they will be tossed right back out — like they always do.
While I strongly preferred Lindell, who has sacrificed much for this country, the real opposition candidate was the duplicitous Harmeet Dhillon, a stealth DeSantian, who recently tried to engineer the CA primary to favor the unpopular stealth candidate, then denied she was doing it when caught. As awful as she is, Ronna Romney was not the worst candidate for RNC Chair.
Manchin a Rino? That does not compute.
The only other candidate at the time was Dina Powell’s globalist husband, a major Romney, McCain, Jeb supporter, and hedge fund kingpin- who would have fared no better- though he would not have been sabotaged by his own Party infrastructure. The candidate should have been Sean Parnell, but a corrupt judge (they all are at this point as we inhabit a post-legal, post-moral USA milieu now), an evil ex wife, and a largely complicit Republican Party Establishment successfully employed the lawfare they are known for, and threatened to take away his children, so he bowed out.
All of this talk of “candidate quality” is a hissy fit from an ossified and corrupt GOP establishment. They sabotage any candidates they don’t like, then claim only their nominees have the right pedigree. Even if they manage to win in solid red states we, the voters, lose as these candidates serve their true constituency- the globalist donors they are in thrall to.
Experts? Experts?
Are these the same experts who said 5,000 times in 2015 Trump would never win the primary and when he did they said he’d never be elected president?
Experts my azz.
You Republicans are like abused wives.
No matter what, you still believe.
We know from the their voting records that more than 50% of Republican senators are Rino’s. So of course they want more of the same.
Well Mr. Singh, it’ll be a cold day in hell before I vote for a yellow-bellied “moderate”. Those days are over.
Well, you have 2 good ones. Goid on you guys for throwing out the 2 Globalists. But not ever State is as ruby red as yours.
Probably a good idea since ‘ moderate and experienced’ Congress Critters have always found a way to go along and along with Democrats.
I sorta wish them luck cause they are goin gto have to go along & get along without me, my vote(s) or my $ help.
No more Oz or Walker types please.
Nah.
Oz and Walker did enough sabatouging of themselves. Those were 2 dumb picks.
That’s under the control of the Turtle. Let’s not pretend they didn’t nominate supposedly “moderate” RINOs who lost their bids for Senate in several cases.
Of course one wonders if more of the MAGA candidates wouldn’t have done better had the RINOs not starved them of funding so it could instead lavish money on the RINO Murkowski who was running against a MAGA Republican in Alaska.
