So what happened between 1790-1945?
Douglas Murray in his book, The Strange Death of Europe, pointed out how European governments rushed to accept immigrants and denigrated the “European culture” as a tactic to make them feel welcome and lessen resentment from the native Euros. This resulted in neither side appreciating the unique culture of the nation. There is a war on culture. I’m less sure it will extend to nuclear plants (after all, they want to live here) as much as to museums, monuments, traditions and government systems. Time to pack the paintings again and save them.
