Almost a quarter of Republican voters said in a new poll that they are "more likely" to support former President Donald Trump after he was charged criminally in two separate cases.

A Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll released Thursday found 24% of Republican voters are "more likely" to support the former president if he were tried and found guilty in the federal classified documents case in Florida, while 21% said they were "more likely" to support him if he were tried and found guilty in the New York State case of falsifying business records.

Among all voters surveyed, between 37% and 38% said the cases will not have any impact on their support, the data showed.

Newsmax used two different headlines for this article, exaggerating the first: "Poll: Guilty Verdict Would Sway Voters for Trump", and minimizing the second; "Ipsos Poll: Guilty Verdict Would Sway Some Voters for Trump".

Newsmax in the tank for Trump haters.

I do not think a conviction will make much difference, one way, or the other two Republican voters, they will either support Trump or, like myself move on. But I do think it will have impact with independence and potential Democrats that might vote for Trump. He will not win him new voters, and I’ve seen nothing to suggest that it would. That is the problem, if he cannot add voters, he will once again lose.

Democrat voters could watch their candidate for any office grab a baby by its' ankles and dash its' brains out on a rock, and they would still vote for that candidate.

We need to support our candidates, including Trump.

We need to support a winner, someone who can add voters, because if all the candidate has is a portion or even all of their votes from last time, they will lose again.

The poll question assumes a fair trial and an impartial jury. Without those two, a partisan guilty could sway voters to vote for Trump.

Every charge has added more and more supporters for Trump. It is living proof that the criminal deep state fears him and they know he will destroy them. Globalists lose sleep just hearing his name!

I'm not at all sure how this will turn out.

I believe THIS TIME, the situation is an unresolvable dispute between the members of the American public based on belief of Guilt or Innocence.

The Authoritarian imposition of policy may result, along with the consequences.

There is a line for a write in candidate. Whether or not Trump is listed on the ticket, he can be written in.

You want to show your power as a people? Write him in no matter what. It may not out in hin the white house, but it damn sure will send a very loud message to those in contŕol.

“Newsmax in the tank for Trump haters.”

Newmax WAS the first of all media outlets to refer to Biden as “President Elect”. That didn’t sit well with me.

You have a point, however I believe the vast part of the American public has made up their minds, and will not be swayed.

When did trump last win? 2016. Yes, he probably won in 2020 but he did not pay for the necessary recounts, he did not hire a good attorneys, so that ended up being a loss. Would another chance at the ballot really be any different? I don’t think so. He has not done anything to add voters, we could once again review a long list of things he’s done that will lose voters. And to beat the Democrats in an election, any Republican candidate will need more and more voters.

...”they will lose again.”

He didn’t lose. America got screwed in 2020. Ballot, voter and election disenfranchised every one of us.

American public based on belief of Guilt or Innocence

Trump is innocent, he's done nothing wrong. There has never been a man more investigated in human history then Trump. And the only thing they can charge him with is some theory that has already been shot down by the courts before. What I find discussing is the passive aggressive attacks by the desanctimonious supporters leveraging this persecution by a corrupt deep state. It shows exactly who these people are, yourself included.

I think a huge sector of the American electorate is finally awake to the threat of globalism, authoritarianism, and the Deep State. The more the Left attacks Trump, the more people see this and rally to his side.
