I’ll make four observations about this episode:
1. After the 2021 election, it took NINE months for Rutte to form this 4-party coalition. Most everyone was predicting an early end because it was so weak.
2. There’s 13 parties holding seats in the Parliament, and this multi-party business is presenting serious issues in building a government.
3. Presently, the BBB-Party (the pro-farmer’s group) hold the lead, and I would generally expect them to win....with one partner being the PVV (right-wing). But if you add it up....they will also be forced into a four-party situation as well.
4. What forced the coalition to fail was not the seize-farms agenda...it was a plan to slow down migrants entering the country.
Next: Macron
So Rutte wanted to cut migration and now he’s out?
If this is the reason then not good. My sister lived in Amsterdam in the 80s after marrying a Dutch guy and they’re liberal but even they complained about the 3rd world immigrants. There were stories of slaughtering animals in apartments and the blood draining down into the apartment below. Etc.
My brother in law (highly educated) seems more accepting of authority than many of us Americans who have a history of rebellion in our veins.
Does BBB mean Build Back Better?
Not sure this party is what people are saying it is
