we don’t have regular UPS delivery, where we live. We have contract drivers. It is all tied up with Amazon and the Post Office. If you live outside of town, your packages get dropped off at the post office for delivery. The problem is that our post office cannot get enough drivers. It is so bad that the post office only delivers mail three times a week and packages have to be picked up at the post office.
The Post Office says that 6hey have the money to hire 20 workers, but no one wants the jobs. The reason is that there are no benefits with these jobs. My guess is that the UPS contract jobs pay no benefits, either.
You have to realize that the port slow downs on the west coast are all being run by the openly communist ILWU. That is where it starts and it just spreads out from there.
During the election year (we have all mail in voting) the Postmaster General sent workers to our town from other post offices, but the didn’t deliver packages or even the Mail. We are warned not to use the mail for voting, to use the drop box, instead. You might think that sounds more secure, but it isn’t because you don’t know who has the keys.
We live very rural, too. Our mail delivery is 2-3 times a week now - no longer every day.
It’s fine for us - we’re retired and have no bills other than our electric and propane. ;)
It’s hard on those in the area that run businesses from home, though!
Nice to ‘meet’ you! My most gorgeous cat EVER is named ‘Eva.’ She’s a Killer Queen. ;) (As I said, we live very Rural, LOL!)
He often works 10 hour shifts.

From an address that often orders online,
THANK YOU!
Big companies and big unions almost always settle their negotiations with a day or two of a scheduled strike. Union has to stretch out negotiations to get their members they got the best deal possible. Same for company negotiators with their stockholders.
There is not going to be a strike. If there is one, it won’t be for more than a day or two.
I can’t believe that other towns are experiencing the same problems with the Post Office. I thought that it was just us because there are other towns in our county which are much more rural and smaller and they don’t have nearly the problems that we do, we don’t really care because we have a PO Box because our mail box is about a mile from the house and it takes 13 days to mail a letter from our Post Office to another Post Officevin our same county.
