IIRC an article that stated the Earth’s elliptical orbit was currently edging a bit closer to the Sun each year. The amount of movement is barely measurable. This will continue until at some point Earth will be ‘sling-shotted’ around the Sun wherein the orbit will start edging a bit away from the Sun for a while. Again minuscule distances on a galactic scale but measurable by us puny humans.
It should come as no surprise that an Ice Age just happens to occur about the time we are the farthest away from the Sun and the ice recedes as we edge closer to our star.
I think Gaea has things well in hand.
In 1961, the Twilight Zone did an episode called “The Midnight Sun”, which the earth was getting closer to the sun.
