The thing is, the AMA has no authority over doctors. It is completely unlike the ABA and the APA in that regard.

It is completely unlike the ABA and the APA in that regard. The ABA has no authority over lawyers. I've been an attorney for forty years and have never even belonged to the ABA. State bar associations do have authority over attorneys, though.
