Matthew Dowd: Trump ‘Is in a Much More Dominant Position’ Now than 2016
Breitbart ^ | Pam Key

Posted on 07/05/2023 10:09:21 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Former chief strategist for the Bush-Cheney 2004 presidential campaign Matthew Dowd said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Lindsey Reiser Reports” that former President Donald Trump is in a “much more dominant position” in the 2024 presidential race than he was in 2015 and 2016.

Dowd said, “It’s fascinating about Ron DeSantis, who has had good success in Florida obviously and won overwhelmingly in Florida but can’t do anything when he goes out. At some point, the first time, second time, third time, fourth time outside their state, if they are not doing well, I don’t know if the fifth or sixth or seventh helps them. The biggest problem he has is Donald Trump is as if he is the incumbent in this race case.”

He added, “Eight years ago when Donald Trump first ran, Donald Trump was at 14% or 15% in the polls. Today, he is at 50% or 60% in the polls. He is in a much more dominant position, Donald Trump, than he was in 2015 and 2016 when he still won the nomination in this process. The problem for Ron DeSantis and anybody else running in the race, it’s not about them. Will some external event happen, something – some legal cause or something else happen that gives them a window where they can actually succeed.”

Trump just represents the dominant position of those who love their country and would love to have Trump back to Make America Great Again.

Trump represents the side that wants to save American from the destruction which democrats have undertaken in the last 3 years, and in reality, the destruction which democrats have sought for over 100 years.

America is resilient, and to undo that, democrats need to do everything that is contradiction to the values that the country was founded on, and the constitution is target @1 for destruction by democrats. Trump represents those who value what the country stands for, while the democrats increasingly represent the values of our enemies.

Trump had tens of thousands of supporters at his rallies. That ‘heap-o-dung’ biden had tens, at best. If we don’t fix the voter fraud, what will change?

It’s a rare politician who gains popularity when he actually holds office; they’re usually disappointing.

This worries me because the left has thrown absolutely everything they have at him and it’s bounced off.

The only thing left is you-know-what and I’m 1000% sure they are capable of it.

Trump is not simply the dominant in the GOP, he is the most dominant person in terms of politics, no one, no one holds more sway on the political discussion, at least on main street, in the US that DJT, not even the sitting dementia puppet sitting in the white house.

The left is more worried about RFK Jr.

They know if he gets traction, he’ll be the nominee

Trump is in a much more dominant position. And the Democrats are much better prepared.

One reason Hillary lost in 2016 was that the Democrats were overconfident. So Trump squeaked by. Now the D’s take him seriously.

Quick story, and maybe illustrative.

A guy I know was a Hillary supporter. Back in 2016 he called the local D headquarters, and asked for some Hillary signs to put on his front lawn. “Sure,” he was told. “The signs are $5 apiece.” My friend declined to pay. So no Hillary signs went on his front yard.

Fast forward to 2020. This guy asked for some Biden signs. He got them. They were free.

The Left is not rational. It's driven by a combination of greed, emotion, and pure hatred (which seems to be something that supersedes mere emotion).

Trump knows, WE ALL now know that DC is rotten to core. Trump’s and most of our eyes are wide open this time.

It’s not just the “left”.

Colosio was killed by other factions in the PRI.

Pray for President Trump !

Every single time I read something like this I wonder what fools we really are = when the time for POTUS vote comes in 2024 the winner will have already long ago been decided. Already. The exact same small cabal that fixed last election when FJB “won more votes than anyone in history” will simply change the vote results. It does not matter who votes for who it only matters who counts the votes. Not enough to push the Dimmo into a lead? Simple remove R votes from whoever that is and switch them over to the D vote roll. Simple. My own R vote on that day will be meaningless and so will the vote of ANYONE who votes R on that day. Worthless.

2020 was a pretty dominate position. Home field advantage even.

Yup. Trump lost in 2020 while the incumbent. What chance does he have now? Haven’t heard anything about what he’d do differently this time around.

Worthless.

So what are you going to do about it?

What’s going to prevent Trumps arrest and imprisonment when the race is in full swing? Not the law and not public opinion. He will be swept off the chessboard at the height of his popularity precisely for the demoralization effect on the middle class.

Well said. Trump is serious, and believed, when he says it’s about a movement, not an individual. Since he embodies the MAGA movement, there is no need for any surrogates. DeSantis’s lack of traction proves it.

Trump will beat Biden convincingly. Biden is a demented fool and criminal. The kids who voted for him last time most definitely will not this time, that’s millions of votes.

That’s where Trump will make significant gains.
