10 years ago that was probably true. Today with a stupidly tight job market and most corporations desperate to higher women for ESG? I think you'd find it a lot easier than you think. Now - getting used to working 40-60 hours a week (lower to not move up, upper end to move up), that's something you may have trouble doing.

I agree thats morally wrong, but half the assets and a large 10 year payment, plus you get half his SS, is still a pretty good deal, especially compared to what the average wife would get in a similar situation would be minimal and she did the same support (and increasingly, the male doing the support of higher powered exec female)

When my husband went on permanent, early disability due to several life threatening health problems involving cancer, kidneys, and heart . . .

although I have worked PT ALL MY LIFE in addition to FT homemaking, child rearing, and homeschooling of five excellent kids. . .

I could not even get an interview. Even with strong local references and plenty of connections. I tried for a year. I drive a taxi now. Thankfully I wasn’t dumped.

So no, there are not lucrative opportunities for women in their fifties with no educational credits and no career building activities in their past.
