There were probably only a couple dozen deep staters who planned and executed the coup. Although, there would have been hundreds more required to orchestrate the coverup. These people would have needed to be told some reason why they must participate. I am certain that there would have been at least one deathbed confession if they knew an actual coup took place and they helped. In addition to them, there would have been thousands who weren’t involved in the coverup but who were in positions to find out more information or ask more questions.
