I dont see the comparison as apt.
The 60s hippie revolts were anti-war domestic movement guided by fringe counter cultural elites, yet were all our own children with the same religion, language and (mostly) history and tradition. Basically a movement to cause change, but from within.
Yet this thing seems to be more of a violent Islamic takeover attempt with totally different civilization groups vying for power..an invasion if you will. You have a flood of recent non-western immigrants allying with a large group of Islamic French citizens that choose to never assimilate.
IMO you are trying to compare apples to oranges.
