Two different guns may have been used in the December 8, 1980 shooting of music icon John Lennon, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to British author and TV producer David Whelan, two different types of bullets were removed from Lennon's body during the autopsy. One was marked as a Semi-wadcutter or hollow-point bullet, while the other was listed as a 38-caliber lead bullet.
Whelan believes that the different bullet types add weight to his theory that a second shooter was involved in the killing.
The author has spent three years investigating the murder and has highlighted several inconsistencies in the official narrative, including the suggestion that police may have misunderstood how the shooting occurred.
Whelan's investigation has also revealed a 'hit list' compiled by convicted gunman Mark Chapman, including the former Beatle, Godfather actor Marlon Brando, and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
The prosecution's accepted version of events was that Chapman shot at Lennon five times, with four of the bullets hitting the singer in the back. However, Whelan's witnesses have suggested that the shooting may have been recorded incorrectly and that the fatal shots were actually fired into Lennon's chest.
Send this pic to David Whelan and make his head explode. :)
Aha! Proof someone is hiding something! Really, there have already been conspiracy theories about Lennon’s death (and McCartney’s but that’s another story). And my biggest question concerning that is “Who cares”?
I always thought it was a .44 Special
Crazy conspiracy night.
We all know it was Stephen King.
McCartney’s death has been greatly exaggerated that’s for sure. LOL
I think that is a Dennis Leary joke.
Thane of Glamis? Macbeth killed RFK?
Yeah, means nothing.
I thought the theory was a bit off-the-wall, too.

OH LOOK! New evidence in the Lennon shooting!

“Semi wadcutters are not hollow point bullets”
They can be.

The cops have the gun and all spent shells it contained.
Shells which presumably have markings on them.
If there was a super slick scheme to conceal a second shooter, you would THINK they both would have used exactly the same type of rounds.
D’oh!!

In a normal murder if you start with a blank slate—the spouse is the first suspect (in this case murder for hire).
Money is an excellent motive.
She must have heard some tomcats fighting in the back yard, and that's how she discovered her unique singing style.
Talk about Yesterday's news.
You are correct what would David Whelan do if the shooter had been a hand-loader and used 6 different bullet types.
Then loaded them in 6 different makes of brass. Some brass some nickel. With different primers and powders.
Thousands of combinations.
Just proves David Whelan knows nothing about firearms.
Criminals often use different ammo or even the wrong ammo for the firearm in use.
Over the years and using several different weapons as my carry piece I have intentionally loaded different types of ammo.
Whether semi-auto or wheel gun I usually loaded a very light (and fast) segmented hollow point in the first two positions with the hope that misses would break up and not kill an innocent bystander with a ricochet. After two shots if you weren’t getting down seeking cover it was on you as the rest of the ammo was the most powerful and deadly I could find.
